Gund

Gund was founded in 1898 by Adolph Gund in Norwalk, Connecticut. It was among the first U.S. toy companies to produce teddy bears, rubber-faced dolls, and licensed merchandise. Currently, Gund is based in New Jersey and is now run by Bruce Raiffe, the grandson of Jacob Swedlin who purchased it from the original founder in 1925.

Rushton

The Rushton Company was founded by Mary Rushton in 1917 as a family business. Mary's daughter, Wight Rushton, designed all of the toys. From the 1950s to the 1960s they produced their most popular toy line under the name Rushton Star Creation; these were hand-painted dolls with expressive rubber faces, and they continue to be extremely sought after to this day.
